Welcome to Project Taytayan
Project Taytayan, also known as the STEER ROSY for Better Life: Skills Training for Entrepreneurship and Employment Required for the Recruitment of Out-of-School Youth for Better Life, is a project initiative by University of San Carlos funded by the Education Development Center (EDC) through USAID Opportunity 2.0 program.
Trainings Offered
Technology Based Entrepreneurship Programs
This course is designed for participants to explore the entrepreneurial mindset and culture utilizing technological background. It teaches students how to plan, create simple prototype while considering costs, and practice product pitching to audience.
Design Thinking Learning
Understand the concepts of design thinking approaches. Exercise both critical thinking and design thinking to solve problems. Apply design thinking concepts in their day-to-day living
Prototyping: Evolution of Design, Modeling and Construction
Understand the concepts of prototyping design principles, guidelines, and standards.
Technology and Skills Based Training Programs
This course is designed for participants to explore the entrepreneurial mindset and culture utilizing technological background. It teaches students how to plan, create simple prototype while considering costs, and practice product pitching to audience.
Basic Computer Servicing
This program teaches students the fundamentals and basic of computer systems. The course starts by providing computer literacy session, focusing on how to navigate, run a program, and handle files. It deals on how to install, configure, and maintain computer systems. Students develop their skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting computer systems to maintain optimal performance of the computers.
Basic Computer Literacy and Office Productivity Tools
This course cover computer literacy, where students familiarize the functionality of the computer system’s graphical interface. It also teaches students on the use computer applications as effective tools for data analysis, writing reports, and presentation. It introduces 3 important office tools, particularly word processors, presentation tool, and spreadsheets.
Basic Computer Networking
This course provides students with the basic networking concepts. Students shall be exposed to hands-on exercise to build competence in setting-up and troubleshooting wired and wireless-based network infrastructure.
Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welding
This course is designed to equip students with basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes of becoming a SMAW Welder in line with industry practices and standards. The course starts with the introduction of welding equipment and safety. It also teaches students the practices before and during welding operation. At the end of the training, students will be component enough to design and create simple welding product.
Basic Air-condition Cleaning
This course provides students the basic of air-condition unit servicing. Students shall learn basic components, tools and equipment, and how to troubleshoot ACU. They shall be exposed to hands-on exercise of servicing the ACU while applying standard safety procedures.
Basic Electrical Building and Wiring
This course will provide the fundamentals of electrical engineering that will help students in understanding basic electrical connection, operations of circuits, and various practical assembly of electrical circuit found in residential and commercial establishment.
Admissions Process
Eligibility
The applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a resident of Cebu City, Philippines
- Must be an out-of-school youth at the start of the training
- Must not be enrolled in any higher education programs for at least six months
- Must be 18-24 years old at the date of training
- Must be a high school graduate or ALS completer
- Good moral character and has no conflict with the law
Application Procedure
Applicants can apply either of the two tracks: Direct Track and Barangay Track.
